Make awareness about Diabetes with some simple steps


November is the month of national awareness about diabetes. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death (fifth leading cause of death by disease) in America.
According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes affects more than 20 million Americans, only 7% of the population! Another 41 million Americans suffer from diabetes mellitus. In other words, each of 5 persons at least one of them has either diabetes or prediabetes. Chances are that you are someone you know. Each day approximately 2,200 people diagnosed with diabetes, and statistics, each time worse.

Fitness Consultant, Katrina McKenna MetamorFitness believe we can reverse this trend through education and awareness. Katrina 7 things we can do to reverse the trend and eliminate the need for Diabetes Awareness Month.

1. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or at risk for diabetes, you should know as much as possible from your doctor as soon as possible.

2. If you are diabetic, to learn to manage your blood sugar. This is vital to reduce the risk of serious complications such as heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and reduce leg amputation.

3. If you see outside is not diabetic, if you are at risk. Learn how you can reduce your risk factors to prevent or delay the diagnosis.

4. Make a donation to the American Diabetes Association, directly or sponsor someone in the Diabetes Walk or the Tour de Cure. You can participate or volunteer for one of these events.

5. Obtain or maintain a healthy weight. If you have diabetes, losing weight will improve your blood sugar levels, if you are at risk, it reduces your chances of having diabetes.

6. A healthy diet. A healthy diet will also help to steady blood sugar and helps you maintain a healthy weight. Mitigation calories helps maintain or lose weight and control the amount of carbohydrate in their diet and, when your blood sugar.

7. Exercise regularly. Exercise is very important to control blood sugar and even preventing diabetes. The moderate exercise most days of the week improves insulin resistance and helps with weight loss or maintenance. Exercise is an important tool for a long healthy life if you are diabetic or not.
